Ancient roman momuments

The Colisseum

This huge amphiteatre allows a glimpse into how Rome's historic inhabitants entertained themselves.  From gladiatorial battles to slaves being mauled by ferocious wild beats, this venue has seen a lot of bloodshed. Its impressive architecture and structure are almost intact, and visitors can also enter the underground chambers where the protagonists of the ring were kept before entering.

Roman Forums

This very large expanse of ground includes houses ,temples, and of course the mighty arches of Constantine and Titus which loom on the skyline.  It's worth getting the headphones for a guided tour of the Forum, it's so much more interesting when you know what you're looking at. Cat lovers will have plenty extra reasons for taking photos!

The Pantheon

Originally constructed by the Roman emperor Agrippa, this mausoleum houses the remains and memorial statues of the last Kings of Italy.  It has a round structure , and is open to the elements with a skylight in the centre.  The square in front of the Pantheon is a great place to relax in the sunshine, and some of the best ice-cream parlours in Rome are a stone's throw away.
