Tram

The tram network in Rome dates back to 1890, and has obviously gone through many changes and much modernisation to bring it up to today’s standards!  Trams tend to run outside of the city centre.  There are a lot of tram routes, and new lines have recently been added.  New environmentally friendly trams have also started to hit the streets of Rome, and aside from looking very impressive they are also rather comfortable.

Travelling by tram requires the same tickets as metro and buses.  Although ticket inspectors are not an especially common sight, making a habit of skipping the fare is bound to result in a nasty fine…especially when you least need it!

A single ticket costs €1 and is valid for 75 mins.  One day tickets cost €4, a weekly ticket is €16, and a monthly ticket costs €30.
